don't drop your camera in the sour cream {a recipe of sorts}

last weekend i helped my mum out by making a few things for a party she was hosting.  a million years ago i was introduced to this by my friend miss lisa and it's now the dip that always gets requested at parties.  miss lisa shared and i now pass it on to you.

gather your ingredients.  you can get as creative as you want but i stuck with the basics.  cream cheese, cheese, sour cream, taco mix and salsa.  i sometimes do shredded lettuce or sliced olives depending on the mood i'm in.  i make it, i get to choose.  harumph.

spread out your cream cheese so it covers the bottom of the dish you are using.  i try to soften it for about an hour out of the fridge beforehand.

add a layer of plain sour cream.  remember, no one is seeing these layers so it doesn't have to look pretty.  just get it on there.

this is miss lisa's special trick.  mix about two thirds of a packet of taco seasoning into enough sour cream for a second layer.  it's so freaking delicious.  just refrain from licking the spoon.  that's kinda gross.

here's where things may get complicated.  at this point i usually try to not drop my camera directly into the taco mix sour cream.  you may decide differently.  i *do not* recommend it though, because...

you will spend the next half hour crying and making up new curse words and trying desperately to clean the ish off of and out of the camera.  oh yeah, also do a layer of salsa.

then a layer of cheese.  i bought the pre-shredded because of a wicked sale.  usually i would cheap out and shred it myself.  and there you have a dip.  a wonderfully easy but crowd pleasing dip that takes just a little time to make.  less time then it takes to clean sour cream off of a camera.  trust me, i know.

please note that the post-drop photos were taken without a working screen on the digital.  let me clarify, i am an idiot who, in my wiping the camera with a cloth, hit the display button and turned the screen off.  i am oh so happie i figured that one out before investing in a whole new camera.  phew!  i celebrated with dip.
