it's finally december and i don't have to wait anymore to play along with holiday themed posts.  oh, yeah!  christmas all up in here and in yo face... until i get over it.  which will probably be, like, never! love me some christmas!

1. egg nog or hot chocolate?

egg nog on christmas day, all other cold days call for hot chocolate.

2. does santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?

boxes get wrapped.  all other items get placed in one giant mother stocking.  santa is kinda green, kinda not.

3. coloured lights on tree/house or white?

i don't care.  they are both nice.  just for the love of peter, paul and mary, PICK ONE!  make a choice and stick with it.

4. do you hang mistetoe?

friends i know hang faux mistletoe for their annual christmas party.  i'll have to ask them where they got it.  but otherwise, no.

5. when do you put your decorations up?

anytime after american thanksgiving is the general rule.

6. what is your favorite holiday dish?

my mum's stuffing.  one year she bought a different brand {we do boxed, so sue us} and it just wasn't the same.

7. favorite holiday memory as a child?

watching 'it's a wonderful life' a million times over with my dad because we would always fall asleep on the couch and have to start again.  goldie from wned {public television} christmas pledge drives is so much a part of my childhood because of that film.

8. when and how did you learn the truth about santa?

i was told by my mum that santa doesn't do gifts for those who don't believe in him.  sprinkle that fairy dust and clap your hands because i believe!

9. do you open a gift on christmas eve?

yes.  but only one.  {so hard to choose!}

10. how do you decorate your christmas tree?

we actually don't do a proper tree in the apartment because we aren't here for christmas.  we get to appreciate our family's trees when we go visiting.

11. snow!  love it or dread it?

it's pretty.  but i don't want to shovel it.

12. can you ice skate?

i can stay up or i can move on skates.  but never both at the same time.

13. do you remember your favorite gift?

so many good ones to choose from i can't narrow it down right now.

14. what's the most important thing about the holidays for you?

everything is so wonderfully festive!

15. what is your favorite holiday dessert?

does egg nog count as dessert?  if it does then egg nog is my favorite.

16. what is your favorite holiday tradition?

choosing and opening the one gift on christmas eve.  such a great sample of the excitement of the next day.

17. what tops your tree?

our little tree stands about twelve inches tall so we have a small santa that sits on top.  he's pretty jolly for a guy with a tree up his caboose.

18. which do you prefer?  giving or receiving?

i love the art of finding and choosing and wrapping and presenting the perfect gift.  i like giving.  but getting one in return is pretty sweet, too.

19. candy canes: yuck or yum?

sure.  yum.

20. favorite christmas show?

show, not movie, so i will choose 'frosty the snowman' because it makes boy happy and has some catchy tunes.

21. saddest christmas song?

'i'll be home for christmas'.  beautiful, yes.  but it also makes me sad.

22. what is your favorite christmas song?

'baby, it's cold outside'.
